In the Spring of 2005, Jennifer Ruby and Tina Moe met and discussed starting a seminar series for young professionals in Indianapolis. They felt that young professionals needed some basic information and inexpensive access to professionals to answer common questions.
Jennifer put together an outline of a seminar series which became Finances 101 for Young Professionals, found a venue and sponsors for the first seminar series in 2005. Thanks in large part to the generosity of Michael Deweese the first seminar series was held at Dick's Bodacious Bar-B-Q in Broad Ripple - one Wednesday a month for September, October and November.
In 2006, Michael McGlothlin came on board as a fixture for the financial planning portion.
Although it has changed venues and formats, Finances 101 for Young Professionals has found a home at the Columbia Club (www.columbia-club.org) with the same format since the fall of 2007. The Series meets every October at the Columbia Club for the first three Tuesdays of the month at 6:00pm, and every seminar includes a dinner thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.
